Photojournalism workshop PL

The aim of the workshop is to prepare participants to work as a photo reporter – in mass media, photographic agencies or as a freelancer.

The program includes a series of lectures on an analysis of contemporary trends in photography of reality. Exercises allow to learn and master technical and aesthetic tools which affect creating interesting news, photo reports and photo documentaries. Participants work on 10 topics, including one big final project.

The workshop coordinator (and one of the teachers) is Andrzej Zygmuntowicz, the head of our School Council, a photographer, teacher, President of Warsaw Photographic Society (1979-85, 89-90), Polish Art Photographers' Association (ZPAF) (1991-94), since 1992 the chairman of the Foundation of Polish Press Photography Competition, a lecturer at the department of Journalism (Warsaw University).

The main part of the classes is also run by Mariusz Forecki, director of Tamtam agency, Grzegorz Dembiński, a photo journalist and a journalist, the chief of photo department in 'Polska Głos Wielkopolski' daily magazine. They are both winners of the most important Polish photojournalism competitions and co-founders of '5klatek' – internet photojournalism magazine.

  • Maciej Jeziorek (freelancer, cooperates with Forum Agency),

  • Czarek Sokołowski (Associated Press).

The program consists of 10 meetings (3 open air trips). Classes are held once in a month on Saturday and Sunday.
Graduates receive a certificate of Academy of Photography Photojournalism Workshop.
There is no entrance exam. Recruitment proceeds according to the order of applications.
The number of free spots is limited for students' convenience.
