This workshop is addressed to all those, who wish to broaden their knowledge in the area of photographing architecture and urban landscape, as well as digital processing of images. The programme contains elements of pure technical skills (outdoor photography, day and night, digital processing with use of Photoshop), as well as theoretical knowledge related to the subjects of composition and aesthetics, based on sample photographs from the history of photography and contemporary art. During classes, combining theory with practice, our students master the skills that help them learn how to choose composition and to structure formally consistent series of images. The acquisition of technical knowledge related to the selection of appropriate lenses, exposition time, and focus depth, will constitute the basis for creative work on the composition and form of architecture-related photographic projects. The choice of location (modern and historical architecture) and post-production will enable them to create a series of images depicting the life of the city.

The programme of Workshop in the Photography of Architecture will be conducted by its author, Mr. Maciej Stępiński, a lecturer of the Academy of Photography, artist, photographer, author of numerous films and installations, graduate of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts and of the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles, France.

Techniques and technologies (theory and practice)

• digital camera - structure, basic functions, pros and cons
• artificial light versus daylight in outdoor photography
• light measurement
• composition and setting of exposition parameters
• digital image processing

Photography of architecture and urban landscape (theory and practice)

• discussion of the subject based on sample works from the history of photography and modern photography
• composition and aesthetics
• perspective and distortion of the image in the lens
• correction of the photographic image, digital processing of images

Outdoor photography (in practice)

• creating a series of photographs of various architectural objects
• selection and discussion of the best works

Digital processing and perspective correction with use of Photoshop

Classes take place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday (2 weeks). The workshop consist of 40 hours.

Graduates will receive a Certificate of completion of the Workshop in the Photography of Architecture at the Academy of Photography.

There is no entrance exam, participants are accepted according to the order of applications. The number of free spots, because of high level and class convenience, is very limited.



The fee for the Workshop is 1850 PLN.

Payment of the fee is understood as the acceptation of the regulations of the Academy of Photography, which are available at the secretarial office.
